In a social media post, Kesha humorously acknowledged the anniversary by joking about the wrong plaque and correcting it with the iconic lyric from the song. Following this post, Kesha shared a heartfelt message about the creation and success of ‘TiK ToK’, which spent nine weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and has sold over eight million units in the U.S. since its release from her first album, 2010’s *Animal*.
She expressed her pride in being credited for her voice and name in the song, and reflected on the joyful and carefree emotions that she wanted to convey through the music. Kesha noted how the song still evokes the same emotions for her, representing the naive, wild, and playful part of herself that she wants to protect fiercely. She also mentioned that the world has changed significantly since the song’s release.
In addition to her reflection, Kesha discussed re-recording her song that originally opens with the lyric “Wake up in the morning feeling like P. She had previously debuted an alternative version of the song when she joined someone on stage at Coachella in March.
