Rafael Nadal of Team Spain left the court with partner Carlos Alcaraz of Team Spain after their Men’s Doubles Quarter-final match against Austin Krajicek of Team United States and Rajeev Ram of Team United States on day five of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at Roland Garros on July 31, 2024 in Paris, France. The 38-year-old tennis player announced that he will miss the US Open, marking the third Grand Slam he will miss this year. He expressed his regret at not being able to give his 100% and thanked his US fans, adding that he looks forward to seeing them in the future, wishing everyone the best of luck for the US Open.

Although he will not be participating in the US Open, Rafael Nadal is expected to compete in the Laver Cup in Berlin. The specific reasons for his withdrawal have not been disclosed, but many speculate it could be due to his age and previous injuries, including hip surgery and abdominal muscle issues. Nadal acknowledged the difficulty of discussing his physical challenges and expressed that such discussions can take a toll on him mentally.

He also hinted at the possibility of reconsidering his career if he feels it’s not worth continuing. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old tennis player took home a silver medal, earning applause from his teammate.
