Jared Padalecki criticizes The CW for its ‘Cheap’ New Direction

Jared expressed his feelings about his experience with The CW, stating that it has changed significantly from what he had known in the past. He made these comments during an interview published on June 26. He also mentioned that he does not believe he will be fired again and was candid about his thoughts on the situation. He noted that several series distributed by The CW, including *The Winchesters* and *Gotham Knights*, were not renewed after their first season.

This decision came after Nexstar Media Group acquired a significant share of The CW in 2022 and introduced unscripted shows to the platform. Jared pointed out that he has spoken with both the head of CBS Studios and the head of Nexstar/The CW, articulating his view that the network’s new direction is a complex issue. Jared indicated that, based on what he has been told, Nexstar is taking The CW in a different direction, with upcoming unscripted shows such as *Trivial Pursuit* and *Scrabble*. These changes are a departure from the network’s previous direction under former CEO Mark Pedowitz.
