Harrison’s reaction to Serena Williams’ comment “We don’t need you” was not captured by cameras at the award show which he attended. This was not the first time the football player made news, as he had previously made headlines for his commencement address at Benedictine College in Kansas two months prior.
In his address, he spoke directly to the women, encouraging them to be proud of their achievements and acknowledging the challenges they face due to societal perceptions. He also faced criticism on social media for his personal beliefs.
Harrison later defended his comments at a gala in Nashville, emphasizing the value of timeless Catholic values and alluding to their unpopularity among many.
