Donald Trump Expresses Gratitude to Secret Service Following Shooting: Statement

Sixteen states, including Virginia, will vote during Super Tuesday on March 5. Following the Saturday, July 13, incident, the 78-year-old tweeted his thanks to the Secret Service and law enforcement members who assisted him after he was targeted. Trump expressed his gratitude to the United States Secret Service and all law enforcement for their rapid response to the shooting that occurred in Butler, Pennsylvania. He extended his condolences to the families of the victim and the injured person at the rally.

Authorities identified Corey Comperatore as the victim who was killed. Trump stated that it was incredible that such an act could take place in the country and shared that he was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper right part of his ear. He also expressed prayers for the shooter and his family and for all those at the rally. Moreover, Biden addressed the nation from the Oval Office in a televised speech, emphasizing the need to not normalize violence despite political differences.

He called for a cooling down of the political rhetoric and stressed the responsibility of everyone to work towards that goal.
