In a photo of the two smiling and wearing matching navy-colored suits, President Biden announced his decision not to accept the nomination and to focus on his duties as President for the remainder of his term. He reflected on his first decision as the party nominee in 2020, choosing Kamala Harris as his Vice President. President Biden expressed his full support and endorsement for Vice President Harris to be the nominee of the Democratic party in the upcoming election, urging Democrats to come together and beat Trump.
President Biden’s announcement comes amid his decision to drop out from the 2024 Presidential race, stating, “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”
Acknowledging that he did not accomplish everything alone, President Biden thanked Vice President Harris for her extraordinary support during his time in office. He expressed gratitude to all those who worked hard to see him reelected and thanked Vice President Harris for being an exceptional partner in their work.
