Simone Biles has performed several gymnastic moves that no other female gymnast has achieved before.
According to the International Gymnastics Federation Code of Points (FIG), moves are named after the first gymnast to complete them in international competition and must be above a certain difficulty level. Her floor routine at her third Olympic Games may lead to skills named after her in every apparatus. One of her signature moves is a double-back layout with a half twist, which includes two flips and three twists in a tucked position. Biles introduced this move in 2018 at the USA Gymnastics World Team Selection Camp, and it was officially named after her at the 2018 World Championships.
Another of her notable moves is the Biles II, also known as the Yurchenko double pike, a vault with a 6.4 difficulty value, making it the hardest in the women’s code. Additionally, “The Biles” is a dismount from the balance beam that involves two twists and two flips. In 2023, at the World Championships, Biles debuted her vaulting move for the first time in a Worlds or Olympics event, intensifying her legacy in the gymnastics world.
