Triathlete vomits 10 times after ingesting a large amount of water from the Seine River.

The Olympic Triathlon on July 31, 2024, at Pont Alexandre III in Paris, France saw Tyler Mislawchuk of Team Canada compete in the Men’s Individual event. Mislawchuk explained that his full stomach limited his performance, stating, “My stomach was just extremely full, and so that ended up being a limiting factor for me in the race. You put that with one hour, 40 minutes of going as hard as you can, stuff’s going to happen.”

Competing in a triathlon is a rigorous challenge, combining swimming, cycling, and running over a distance of 51.5 km (32 miles), including a 1.5 km (0.93 mile) swim, 40 km (25 mile) cycle, and a 10 km (6.2 mile) run.

Mislawchuk reflected on his experience in the event, expressing that he gave his all and had no regrets. Despite vomiting multiple times after the race and struggling with the heat during the competition, he highlighted the challenges of adapting to the summer weather in France compared to Canada’s colder temperatures. Mislawchuk also raised concerns about the water conditions in the polluted Seine River, suggesting that it may have contributed to his physical distress during the competition.

In the face of these challenges, Mislawchuk’s determination and resilience in the Olympic triathlon showcased his commitment to giving his all, even in adverse conditions.
