Alice D’Amato made history by winning Italy’s first-ever women’s gymnastics gold medal. Her journey to this achievement began with her participation in national and international championships, leading to her selection for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, which were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2024, she returned to the Olympic stage for the Paris games. At 21 years old, Alice’s emotions were evident as she expressed her disbelief at securing the gold medal.
Having previously won silver in the team competition, she was overwhelmed and struggled to find words to convey her feelings. She emphasized the high level of competition and the hard work she puts in every day at the gym to stay healthy and earn her place in the team.
Alice acknowledged the team’s collective goal of winning a medal in the team competition, highlighting the dedication and effort needed for such an achievement. Winning the individual gold medal was an unexpected and joyous accomplishment for her.
