Naomi Watts Explains Book on Menopause & Struggles as a Woman in Upcoming Release

Naomi Watts attended the FYC red carpet event For FX’s “FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans” at DGA Theater Complex in Los Angeles, California on May 29, 2024. The 55-year-old actress announced the release of her book, *Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish I’d Known about Menopause*, which is set to hit the shelves in January.

The book is intended to serve as a reference manual for menopause and other aspects of aging as a woman. Watts shared that her life turned upside down when she was told she was close to menopause at the age of 36, just as she was ready to start a family. She expressed the need for an open conversation and a handbook for women going through similar experiences, as she struggled through shame and secrecy with little real resources to turn to, including well-versed doctors.

Addressing the lack of education and research on menopause, Watts emphasized that midlife is about more than menopause. She encouraged women to hold their heads high, expressing that they are older, wiser, and not yet done, having earned their “STRIPES ❤️”.
