The Sheriff’s Office disclosed that Syrvud has a criminal history including warrants for DUI, a hit-and-run, and failing to register as a sex offender. He is described as a 6-foot-tall white male with white hair and green eyes.

The threats that spurred these actions were reportedly made on social media, leading to heightened security measures. Despite a previous assassination attempt, Trump has attended several rallies and during the Republican National Convention, reflected on the incident and praised the Secret Service agents who intervened to protect him. The aftermath of the traumatic incident resulted in one civilian death and a few others injured, and produced the iconic photo of Trump with his fist raised defiantly in the air.
