The animated family comedy *Shrek* was a major hit when it was released in 2001. Young fans enjoyed the fairytale elements, while adults were charmed by the sense of humor and characters. Almost 15 years since the last movie, the upcoming *Shrek 5* promises to reignite the love for Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, and Puss in fans.
However, details about the cast are still under wraps, despite the series having had exciting actors lend their voices to the franchise. At the end of the film, Puss could be seen sailing back to Far Far Away, which was first introduced in *Shrek 2*. Eddie Murphy, who voices Donkey, spoke publicly about the upcoming movie in an interview with *Collider*.
He revealed that he had recorded the “first act” about four or five months prior. Additionally, he mentioned that Donkey will have his own movie, although he had not started recording the audio for it. Murphy expressed hope that if audiences receive the movie well and demand more from the *Shrek* world, the franchise may expand to Far Far Away, but emphasized that there is no master plan in place.
Overall, the excitement for *Shrek 5* is building, and fans are eagerly anticipating the return of their beloved characters in this long-awaited installment of the series.
