Shelley Duvall, the actress known for her role in Stanley Kubrick’s *The Shining*, passed away at the age of 75 in Blanco, Texas due to complications from diabetes. Her partner, Dan Gilroy, announced her passing and paid tribute to her, expressing relief that she is now free from suffering. Born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1949, Shelley’s career took off after she met director Robert Altman at a party in 1970, leading to a role in *Brewster McCloud*.

She later gained widespread fame for her role as Wendy Torrance in *The Shining*. Despite the film’s iconic status, Shelley revealed the challenges she faced while working with Kubrick, citing the emotional toll it took on her. Following a small role in the indie film *Manna from Heaven* in 2002, Shelley took a hiatus from acting.

However, she made headlines with a controversial appearance on *Dr. Phil* in 2016, where reports indicated she was struggling with mental illness. The appearance received significant criticism, and Shelley expressed regret about it afterwards. Her final acting role was in the 2023 horror film *The Forest Hills*.

Throughout her later years, she was in a relationship with musician Dan Gilroy, whom she began dating in 1989, until her passing.
