A man dressed as a character from Netflix sensation “Squid Game” is seen making a traditional local children’s treat called a dalgona at his stall in Seoul on November 4, 2021. The series will return for a third and final season in 2025. It has been nearly three years since Season 1 launched on Netflix and became a global success. “Squid Game” secured 111 million viewers in the show’s first 17 days on the platform, making it the most popular Netflix series ever after 12 days.
A teaser released in February showed a man answering a phone call, with the caller warning him about regretting his choice and the hero vowing to find the caller, no matter what it takes. The nearly minute-long teaser also showed men and women wearing iconic green tracksuits screaming and falling while racing each other, followed by the Front Man asking, “It’s been three years. Do you want to play a game?” Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of “Squid Game,” provided a teaser in an open letter to fans, hinting at Seong Gi-hun’s return and his quest for revenge in Season 2.
He also mentioned that the clash between Seong Gi-hun and the Front Man will continue into the series finale with Season 3, scheduled to be released next year. The first season of “Squid Game” has been the most-watched season of television in Netflix history, and the series received 14 Emmy nominations with six wins.
