Jordan Chiles recently had the opportunity to ring the Nasdaq closing bell at the Nasdaq MarketSite in New York City on August 8, 2024. In response to this achievement, Chiles expressed her pride in representing her culture and her country, stating, “I have no words. I’ve poured my heart and soul into this sport, and I am so proud to represent my culture and my country.”
However, Chiles has also been involved in a frustrating back-and-forth of appeals with the Olympic committees regarding the results of the women’s floor final during the Paris Summer Games on August 5. An inquiry was accepted at the time, which adjusted an underscore that initially earned her the bronze medal.
USA Gymnastics is contesting the ruling and has highlighted several issues with the proceedings. They have also provided time-stamped video evidence showing that Chiles’ coach submitted the inquiry within 47 seconds, well within the one-minute deadline. Nevertheless, the court maintained that its rules do not allow for a reconsideration of its rulings, even in light of new evidence. This decision has left Chiles and her supporters disappointed and frustrated.
